About San Mateo - California Hotels

The city of San Mateo covers an area of 16 square miles, at an elevation of 43 feet and has a mild Mediterranean climate. It is located in San Mateo County, between Belmont, Foster City and Burlingame. San Mateo was first inhabited by the Ohlone Indians, who founded a large village along the Laurel Creek. In 1776, the Spanish set up a camp in the same place which would later become San Mateo; it was later replaced by two great ranchos, Rancho de Las Pulgas and Rancho San Mateo.

Nowadays, San Mateo is not only a great place to live in, as the over 92 000 residents could confirm, but also a perfect location for business and tourism. San Mateo’s most famous natural attraction is the
Coyote Point Park, where you can also visit the Coyote Point Museum and the Peninsula Humane Society. San Mateo Hotels also invites you to check out the Bay Meadows Racecourse, the San Bruno Mountain State Park and the Ano Nuevo State Reserve.
